Decode Wanhua
& Know Ourselves

Our community mixes modern life with history. Teenagers like Ximending for its trendy vibe and street artists. It also has old sites from the Japanese rule.
However, we don’t know much about our hometown. Many think Wanhua is for the elderly and feel uncomfortable when it’s mentioned because of the COVID-19 testing site. This might be why young people leave.
Our teachers helped us think about 'self-identity.' We realized we feel embarrassed about being from Wanhua. But are we embarrassed by our roots?
Places like Longshan Temple, U Market, and Ximending are important to us. If they were gone, would we feel like strangers? To understand ourselves, we need to learn more about our hometown and its history.
